Insulated was the 1st “signed” band that I was a part of. We were signed to a small independent label. This was the 1st band I was in when I moved to Hollywood in 1995, and all 3 of us really believed in what we were doing and loved that music. We worked on this record for 8 months—lived it, breathed it, slept it. I would record in the studio all day long then after that go rehearse with some other band that would hire me so I could pay rent and eat. It’s really rare when you find other band members who share exactly the same musical vision and goals. I’m still really proud of that record, and I think every song on it is great. I wish we had made more music after that, but it becomes very difficult to have the kind of dedication necessary to keep making great music and maintain that standard and also keep up with all the business elements, too.
